Intro to Run & Gun Pistol & Rifle Course Objective: Develop shooter confidence in movement-based engagements, transitions between weapons, and positional shooting while engaging targets at varying distances. 1. Safety Briefing & Course Overview Range rules, medical plan, and safety expectations Muzzle awareness & trigger discipline under movement Gear check and loadout considerations 2. Warm-Up & Baseline Shooting (Static Drills) Pistol: Draws, controlled pairs, reloads Rifle: Ready-ups, single shots, transitions to pistol 3. Movement & Transitions Lateral Movement Drills (Pistol & Rifle) Engage while moving left/right Focus on stable sight picture and footwork Forward & Backward Movement Engaging on the move Shooting then moving, vs. shooting while moving Strong Side to Weak Side Transition (Rifle) Shoulder transitions around barricades Engagements from unconventional positions Primary-to-Secondary Transition (Rifle to Pistol) Failure drills (rifle malfunctions → pistol transition) Using retention techniques 4. Cover & Position-Based Shooting Use of Cover & Barricades (Standing, Kneeling, Prone) Urban Prone / Unorthodox Shooting Positions Engaging from Cover with Strong & Weak Side
